The Frequency of Your Thoughts in this Chaos:
The artwork comprises two integral parts: sound and vision. The sound design is executed by Angry5Jar. Within the soundscape, heartbeats transition from rapid to slow, and breathing fades from audible to silent, while underlying murmurs symbolizing distractions and ambient music are layered to emulate the Taoist concept of "Hui Guang Tiao Xi" (Returning Light and Regulating Breath). The human body harbors two types of "shen" (spirit): the conscious shen and the primal shen. The conscious shen resides in the heart, which is interconnected with breathing; the breath is derived from the heart, which in turn is controlled by our conscious shen.
Each heartbeat governed by the conscious shen generates a delusive thought. The process of meditation and entering a state of tranquility in Taoism involves calming the conscious shen, allowing the primal shen located between the eyebrows to manifest, and connecting with the ultimate source of the universe through the primal shen. This entire process constitutes "Hui Guang Tiao Xi."
At the inception of the ultimate source of the universe, light emerged. Light is everything, and everything is light. Light is also consciousness, and consciousness is light.
In the visual aspect of this installation artwork, the sole light source stems from our subconscious, projecting our thoughts through a filter of worldly illusions. The dynamic light within this artwork and its formation principle mimic the frequency of imperceptible thought transformations in our minds. Each individual's consciousness is unique and constant, yet through collisions and overlays with the myriad things in the world, it projects ever-evolving, fluctuating thoughts, ultimately manifesting as phenomena.
During this experience, viewers are invited to shift their meditation focus from breathing to the dynamic light in the artwork. Just as we become aware of each thought during meditation, viewers, amidst the shifting light and shadow in the artwork, experience a progressively deeper state of concentration and immersion. In this process, they turn inward, achieving a state close to tranquility at a certain moment.
